Kruger Moves into Second in CMS History in Javelin, 12th in Division III

Kruger moved up to No. 2 on the CMS all-time list at 209'2"
REDLANDS, Calif. - George Kruger recorded the second-longest javelin throw in the history of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's track and field program with a distance of 209'5" at the Redlands Final Qualifier this week. 

The throw added nine feet, three inches to his personal best, and moved him up from No. 5 in Stag history to No. 2, behind only Truman Knowles, who threw 211-6 at the NCAA Championships in 2022. It also moved him up from No. 24 in the nation to No. 12, putting him in position to qualify for the NCAA Division III Championships when bids are announced this weekend (the top 22 qualify). 

Kruger threw 199'3" to win the SCIAC Championship, and then broke 200 feet for the first time at the Occidental Invitational (200'2"), before throwing 209'2" at Redlands. 

In addition to Kruger's performance, Aiden Owens also moved into 10th place all-time at CMS in the 100 meters with a time of 10.82, surpassing his previous best time of 10.96. Jaden Rattay also wan a 48.37 in the 400, just off his personal best of 48.21 at SCIACs, which ranks No. 9 in CMS history,

NCAA Division III Invitationals will be announced this weekend after Friday's final day of qualifying. Colin Scanlon (third in 400 hurdles, 19th in 400 meters), Kaden Cassidy (fourth in hammer), and Ellis DelVecchio (12th in 800 meters) are also in position to qualify, along with the 4x400 relay team of Rattay, Owens, Max Even and Scanlon, which ranks sixth.
