CLAREMONT, Calif. -
Pierce Clark finished second in the 800 meters,
Colin Scanlon came in second in the 400 meters, and
Jonas Rickert was fourth in the 1500 meters to highlight the performance of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's track and field team at the Triton Invitational hosted by UC San Diego on Friday and Saturday.
Scanlon ran a 47.21 in the 400, which moves him up from sixth to second in CMS history, behind only
Ryan Martin, who ran a 46.95 in 2006. It also moves him up to fourth in NCAA Division III so far this season, pending other results.
Scanlon also anchored a 4x400 relay team with
Jaden Rattay,
Aiden Owens and
Ellis DelVecchio that came in second place with a 3:13.30, which places them fifth in CMS history. DelVecchio was part of the program record in 2023 at the NCAA Championships (3:07.82).
Clark, who qualified for the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships in the winter, was second in the 800 meters with a 1:51.06, which ties him for sixth in CMS history. That time also places him fifth in Division III so far this spring.
Rickert was fourth out of 82 runners in the 1500, finishing in 3:51.64.
Joshua Martinez also finished in the top 10 in the 110-meter hurdles with a 14.92, placing him eighth.
George Kruger was ninth in the javelin with a 189'7".
CMS will be back in action next Saturday when it competes at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational.
