ROCHESTER, N.Y. -
Pierce Clark ran a 1:53.06 to come in 11th place out of 20 competitors in prelims at the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships on Friday.
Clark just missed qualifying for tomorrow's finals (top eight) with his 11th place finish, but had a solid performance in his debut indoor season, especially given that he had only one chance to qualify (at the Boston University last chance meet two weeks ago). He was running the 800 indoors for only the second time this season at nationals.
By finishing in the top 16 at nationals, Clark earns second-team All-America honors. The finals qualifiers (1-8) earn first-team distinction, while those 9-16 are named to the second team.
Meanwhile, the throwers were in action during outdoor season at the Redlands Invitational.
George Kruger set a new PR in the javelin, throwing 190'7" to break 190 feet for the first time in his career, placing third at the meet behind two throwers from Division I Army, and placing fourth in NCAA Division III so far this season.
Kaden Cassidy was third in the hammer throw at 178'11", behind only throwers from Army, while
Kavin Prasanna was fourth at 171'5".
Jason Bowman was third in the shot put at 44'4.25" (13.25 meters), with Prasanna fourth less than a half-meter (1 foot, 4.5 inches) behind.
The Stags will be back in action next weekend when they travel to the Aztec Invitational, hosted by San Diego State University.
