Attended Boise High School in Idaho, where he was a member of the swim and dive team ... Earned state championships in the 50 free (21.02) and 100 free (46.09) as a senior ... Placed second in the state in the 100 free and 200 free as a junior ... Was a finalist in the 50 free and 200 free as a sophomore, earning third in the 200 ... Also competed for Boise YMCA.
