CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's lacrosse team honored its six seniors prior to the contest, and went on to take a 19-8 win over Occidental on Saturday at Zinda FIeld.
With the win, CMS improves to 7-5 overall and 6-1 in the SCIAC, while Occidental slips to 7-5 overall and 3-4 in league play.
Taylor Daetz,
Audrey Donahue,
Maggie Griffis,
Chloe Klein,
Holly Shankle and
Natalie Teare were honored prior to the contest. Shankle went on to record 12 saves to get the win in goal, while Griffis (3), Klein (2), Teare and Daetz combined for seven ground balls, and Daetz added a goal.
CMS jumped out to a 7-1 lead after the first quarter, then led 13-3 at the half and was able to coast to the win. A total of 14 different players scored goals, led by three from first-year Maya Mahara.
Grace Minturn,
Amelia Ulmer, and
Stella Hansot each had two.
Julia Ryan had a goal to go with 13 draw controls, and
Jessica Sloan-Cooper chipped in with an electric goal on an end-to-end rush.

Ava Goldson each scored as well.
CMS will be back in action when it travels to Cal Lutheran for a 7 p.m. contest.
