Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Householter Leads Stags to Sixth Straight Win, 70-48 over Linfield

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Will Householter had 21 of his career-high 29 points in the first half to stake the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's basketball team to a 20-point halftime lead, and the Stags went on to take a 70-48 win over Linfield on Friday evening on the first day of the David Wells Classic at Roberts Pavilion.

With the win, CMS moves to 6-0 on the young season, while Linfield drops to 1-4 on the year with the loss.

Householter almost outscored Linfield in the first half by himself, shooting 8-9 from the floor and 3-3 from three-point territory for 21 points, as the Stags took a 42-22 lead into the break. Householter made his first six shots, and his first miss was a jumper that was blocked, but he picked up the rebound off the floor and made his second effort immediately after.

Luke Jacobson also finished in double figures for CMS with 10 points, while Reid Jones had nine points, four steals and two blocks. James Frye added four points and eight rebounds (five offensive) to help the Stags to a 43-32 advantage on the boards. CMS also forced 21 Linfield turnovers, including 13 via steal, while holding the Wildcats to just 33.3 percent shooting from the floor.

CMS will be back in action tomorrow when it travels across the street for a neutral site game with Puget Sound at 3 p.m., which will be held at Pomona-Pitzer. The Loggers defeated the Sagehens 79-73 in the first game of the doubleheader at Roberts Pavilion on Friday.
