CLAREMONT, Calif. - 
Cooper Nixon ran for 123 yards and a late touchdown to close the deficit to 21-18, but Cal Lutheran was able to get two big first downs to run out the clock and take the win over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Saturday at Zinda Field. 
The Stags honored their 19 seniors prior to the contest as part of Senior Day -

Noah Macapulay set up the Nixon touchdown with an electric 41-yard run down to the Cal Lutheran seven-yard line. Nixon scored on third-and-goal from the two-yard line, and Boehm found Macapulay for the two-point conversion to make it 21-18.
Cal Lutheran took over on its final possession with 3:06 left and earned a first-down run on third-and-4 at the 34-yard line from JD Sumlin. After two more four-yard runs from Sumlin created a third-and-two, quarterback Joe Farley ran for a first down on a bootleg to enable the Kingsmen to run out the clock. 
Brewer had a 28-yard field goal with 1:11 left in the first quarter to close the lead to 7-3, and Boehm had a four-yard run for a touchdown with 7:56 left in the third to close it to 14-10. 
Gangi-Saroukhanioff had nine tackles defensively, and Zhou had two tackles for losses on his Senior Day (six total). 
George Kruger led CMS with 12 tackles total. 
CMS will be back in action next weekend when it travels to Redlands.
